Critically acclaimed playwright, author and screenwriter, november dawn shares a snippet from her acclaimed choreoplay, Sunshine for a Midnight Weary. This trio of choreo-monologues explodes with “Is White Coochie Contagious?” and ends with resolution when fiery women come to terms with interracial dating and their own shortcomings. november dawn has garnered critical acclaim for her ability to integrate issues of politics and popular culture into unique hybrid narrative forms. Her choreoplay, Sunshine for a Midnight Weary, was commended by the Los Angeles Times and LA Weekly. The piece was also nominated for an NAACP Theater Award for Best Choreography and was mounted, in part, in New York. In addition, the Atlanta Film Festival recognized one of her screenplays, “Poor Man’s Blues,” as a semi-finalist in its 2004 Perfect Pitch Competition. She has two books, Cries of a Young Girl and the dawning, on the market. With her company, maisol, the former video-journalist uses her expertise to orchestrate communications campaigns for the corporate sector. She is a tireless advocate of human decency and respect no matter how she gets it across.
The Retributioners
Stephanie Faith Scott is the creator, producer, co-editor and star of the comedic web series The Retributioners. This episodic is a loosely scripted mockumentary hosted by “Stephanie,” an accomplished and happily married New York actress, who is nonetheless bitter about past slights and hurts. Her motto is, “I have never forgotten anyone, or anything.” The show is shot on location in New York City.
Stephanie and her husband, Eric Rasmussen, are Good Catch Productions. Eric does the writing and directing, while Stephanie does all the planning, marketing and the paperwork. They both share in the video editing, which is where they do most of their fighting. Stephanie is a NewYork-based film and stage actress. Her previous credits include a principal role in the feature film “The Video Guys,” and the short films “Plus+”, and the mockumentary, “’Tis the Secret.” She studied improvisation at The Second City Training Center in New York and is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Eric directed the short film “S&M Queen for a Day,” popular on YouTube, which stars Stephanie, and will be featured at the 8th Annual deadCENTER Film Festival in Oklahoma City this Spring.
Lizette Mizelle has been named the first HighWire winner with Crackle, a Sony Pictures Entertainment company. An online competition honor! Snippets of her act have also been featured on Comedy Time. A fitness enthusiast, disgruntled hairdresser, and single mother of three, she has lots of inspiration for her clever, physically delivered hilarious stories. Wryly observant, 99% clean, and a quirky younger-than-her-years stage persona make these unusual antics easily relate able to live audiences across the country. See Lizette win Highwire Award with Crackle!
Lizette on men in comedy......
Shock humor has never been my thing. But guys love it. The worst introduction in my career came from a male comedian, "She has...a vagina...please welcome....Lizette Mizelle....." My response, "Well, thank goodness, I heard they are pretty popular around here!!!"
I am a COMEDIENNE. I am also a COMEDIAN. However I think 'comedienne’ looks better esthetically. The goal in stand up comedy is to be a great comic. Period. A comics comic even better. The more originality personality and creativity you can lend will only set you apart regardless of gender.
The more professional gigs I get the less I have to deal with hacks that don't know how to bring up a performer. So when the next guy gives me a rude intro, I guess I will just have will just dick slap him....however, that may be slutty...not so funny.....Oops!
